Bio
Born: Brooklyn, NY
Education: BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in affiliation with Tufts University and I completed additional painting and printmaking intensives in the Diploma Program.
Previous to attending the Museum School, I worked in graphic design for over 20 years including co-owner and principal designer of the firm PORTFOLIO in Boston.
Studio: Since 1999, I have worked in my studio in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood in a vibrant artist cooperative building. I also teach weekend workshops in Relief Printmaking and Contemporary Collage & Mixed Media in my studio. My work, including site specific commissions, can be found in private collections.
Artist’s Statement
My work includes unique relief prints, paintings and mixed media works exploring colors and shapes from nature. I love to travel and it usually involves hiking and observing the details in the environment. In my studio I work in series and each series can last a few months or a few years.
The current print series explores the colors and textures of stuff that washes up on the beach with the tide. In working with seaweed – with their fragile shapes and unusual colors – I layer color and texture with many different plates. That series now includes octopus and jellyfish.
I am also working on a series of birds many of which I have encountered on my hikes or in my garden. Last year I curated a show “The Year of the Bird” to bring attention to and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
